Equal Opportunities Policy

1. Policy Statement

We are committed to providing a workplace and service environment free from unlawful discrimination, where all individuals are treated with dignity and respect. This policy aims to ensure equality of opportunity for all, and to prevent any form of discrimination based on legally protected characteristics.

2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All employees, contractors, and temporary staff
  • Job applicants and candidates during recruitment
  • Service users, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • All activities, including employment, procurement, service delivery, and marketing

This policy complies with the Equality Act 2010, and protects against discrimination based on:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy or Maternity
  • Race (including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin)
  • Religion or belief
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

4. Our Commitments

We will:

  • Promote Equal Access to employment, training, and development opportunities for all staff
  • Recruit Fairly, using transparent, merit-based processes free from bias
  • Ensure Reasonable Adjustments are made for disabled individuals in employment and service delivery
  • Challenge and Address Discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation swiftly and effectively
  • Provide Equality Training for all staff to foster awareness, inclusive behaviours and accountability
  • Monitor and Evaluate diversity within our workforce and service users, using anonymised data where appropriate

5. Implementation, Responsibilities and Monitoring

• Senior Leadership: Accountable for leading by example and upholding this policy at all times. • Managers and Supervisors: Responsible for implementing this policy in their teams and addressing any breaches • All Staff and Contractors: Expected to comply with the policy and treat others fairly and respectfully

Breaches of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract

  • We regularly review our policies and practices to ensure compliance with the Equality Act 2010.
  • All staff receive training on equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) as part of their induction and ongoing development.
  • We collect and analyse workforce data anonymously to identify any areas of under-representation
  • or inequality and take positive action where appropriate.
  • Managers are trained to understand and upload their responsibilities under this policy.

6. Raising Concerns

Any employee, applicant, or stakeholder who believes they have been treated unfairly may raise a concern through our grievance or complaints procedure. We treat all complaints seriously and will take prompt action if discrimination is identified.

7. Review

This policy is reviewed annually and updated in line with legislation, regulatory guidance, and best practice.
